Last week RT aired the following report: ‘Outside support for the myriad of Syria’s armed groups is no secret.Saudi Arabia and Qatar alone funnel millions of dollars to the rebels every month. But, as Gayane Chichakyan reports, it’s not just cash and weapons being smuggled into Syria, but suicide bombers and ideology too (2 June 2012)’.
Apparently, the Iranian broadcaster Press TV already aired this footage, as indicated by Hizbullah’s TV station Al-Manar indicates: ‘Activists have released video footage showing alleged potential suicide bombers being presented at an auction in western Saudi Arabia before being shipped off to Syria. The video, leaked in early May , shows the auction taking place in a hotel in the Saudi port city of Jeddah, according to Press TV. It shows a father putting his would-be suicide bomber son up for auction in exchange for the compensation he expects to be offered by the highest bidder. The father, Abu-Salah, receives 1.5 million Saudi riyals (roughly USD 400,000), for offering his son, Khaled, as “sacrifice.” Some sources say that among the bidders were high-ranking officials from the ruling Al Saud clan’.
‘Press TV could not independently verify the authenticity of the video. Some sources say that among the bidders were high-ranking officials from the ruling Al Saud clan.Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Hundreds of people, including many members of the Syrian security forces, have been killed during the violence. The Syrian government says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the turmoil and deadly violence, while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.Damascus also says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and that the security forces have been given clear instructions not to harm civilians’.
