“Mitt Romney put God at center stage of his stump speech during a campaign stop in Virginia Beach Saturday. Alongside televangelist Pat Robertson, Romney made it clear, in case you were wondering, that he has no intention of taking the word “God” out of his party’s platform or off the country’s currency, reports Politico. It was a not-so-thinly-veiled attack against Obama and the Democrats, who took heat from conservatives for not mentioning God in their platform. They later reinserted it. After leading a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance in the middle of his remarks, Romney began talking about God…”. Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz (10 Sept 2012).
But Mittens is a Mormon . . . he wears magic underwear, and ostensibly adheres to the weird and kooky beliefs of the Church of the Latter Day Saints: “Membership in the Mormon Church influences every aspect of the lives of its members. Mormons follow The Word of Wisdom, a commandment that forbids drinking alcohol, coffee, tea, or using tobacco or illegal drugs. The law of tithing was later given to the people. Mormons believe in dressing modesty. Mormons refrain from recreating or shopping on Sundays in order to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. Living the Mormon lifestyle is easy when one has a true and strong testimony of the fundamental beliefs of the true and revealed gospel. Living these commandments brings joy and stability, freedom, and safety to followers of Christ”, as expressed by the Mormon website Mormon Beliefs.
On the other hand, the Mormon faith does have some very outlandish tenets, as illustrated in this admittedly anti-Mormon clip.
